Copying Painting by the Old Masters at the National
Gallery of Art. Bruce began the Copyist Program in September
of 1995. He is completing his fourth independent exercise by
capturing a landscape painting, "Essex Park" by John Constable.
His studies include "Young Woman with Peonies," by Frederic Bazille
(circa 1870), "Two Woman At A Window" by Murillo, (circa 1690), and
"Colonel Guy Johnson" by Benjamin West. As a painting copyist from
master artists exhibits in th eNational Gallery West Wing, Bruce's
dedication to Detail, classical art, and drawing has been enhanced.
Relying solely on direct observation to practice from masterworks
of the Permanent Collection has gained Bruce renewed respect for
those who provided mankind with unsurpassed grandeur. |
